What Is The Challenge?
The Million Pound Weight Loss Challenge (MPWLC) is to get at least 50,000 overweight/obese people is to lose at least 20 pounds each.

Who Is Behind The Challenge?
After permanently losing 225 pounds
and keeping it off, Stanley Bronstein
has made it his life’s mission
to help others PERMANENTLY
lose the weight they’ve been
struggling to lose.
He did it with no drugs or surgeries.
The experience taught him that if he
could do this, YOU CAN TOO.

Why Is This Necessary?
In America, an estimated 109 million adults are obese, which is about 42% of the adult population.
In addition, another 31% of adults — or about 81 million people — are overweight but not obese.
Altogether, more than 190 million American adults — nearly three out of every four — are either overweight or obese, highlighting the massive scale of this health crisis.
For children and adolescents in the United States (ages 2 to 19), the most recent data indicates approximately 20% (1 in 5) are obese, which is about 15 million children and teens. Another 16% are overweight but not obese — which means another 12 million young people are affected.
Combined, approximately 36% of children and adolescents in the U.S. — more than 1 in 3 — are either overweight or obese, putting them at risk for serious health issues like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, stroke and emotional challenges.
The terms “overweight” and “obese” both refer to having excess body weight, but they differ in degree and severity.
Overweight means having more body weight than is considered healthy for a given height, but less severe than obesity. It often indicates the early stages of excess fat accumulation.
Obesity is a more serious and advanced condition, where excess body fat has accumulated to the point that it significantly increases the risk of serious health problems.
In simple terms:
Overweight is the warning sign.
Obesity is the crisis.
Worldwide, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that over 1.9 billion adults (ages 18 and older) are overweight — about 39% of the world’s adult population.
For children and adolescents (ages 5-19), over 340 million are overweight or obese, reflecting a dramatic increase over the past four decades.
For children under 5, approximately 39 million are overweight or obese globally.
In total, well over 2.2 billion people worldwide — adults and children combined — are overweight or obese, making this a global epidemic affecting nearly 30% of the global population.
These numbers are rapidly growing, and obesity is now recognized as one of the most serious global public health challenges, contributing to rising rates of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers.
If current trends continue, it is projected that by 2030, over 2.7 billion people worldwide — more than 1 in 3 people on Earth, will be either overweight or obese.
Being overweight or obese not only shortens lives but it also places a massive burden on healthcare systems and economies worldwide.
Beyond health consequences, it diminishes productivity, quality of life, self-esteem, and emotional well-being.
If no action is taken, the human and economic costs will continue to escalate, making it critical for someone to step up and drive meaningful change through education, lifestyle changes, and systemic solutions.
